Contradiction. My mother can cook almost the best food in the world, but still not yet famous. Some roadside stores can cook up a heaven, still not as famous but at least has its own customers. But. The Super-Famous Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh does not live up to its standards or at least doesn’t deserves such high recommendations. Furthermore, it has a website. So I went to look into the internet to clear my biggest doubt: Why Is It So Famous? Yeah guess what I found? This shop has not once, but twice rejected appeals from political familiars to let them eat Bak Kut Teh after their operating hours. Thats probably why. Jumbo’s group of restaurants has took over the restaurant in a bid to improve its customer service as a Singapore Iconic Bak Kut Teh stall but has failed terribly in retaining its original flavour. An interesting discovery I made at this restaurant is that their Auntie-looking waitresses can SPEAK ENGLISH. Like rather accurate English. And they can operate the PDAs, that they use to communicate with the kitchen, easily which is quite a feat. So what you have excellent services? Food is the most important feature in a restaurant not service. Jumbo should learn to strike a balance.

// Ambition. 13-1-11//

Yeah! Another post. :D Today, I had a wonderful lunch at Tung Lok in OrchardCentral. As the restaurant name suggests, ITS A CHINESE-themed RESTAURANT. Its a Ala-Carte Buffet style and so I had lotsa good food, especially their super nice Smoked Duck Breast and Chilled Pork Slices with garlic. However these two are only appetizers. So Tung Lok should really change their menu into something interesting for the main course.

Anyway, after the lunch, I went to City Square Macs to slack and conceptualize the many ideas to incorporate into the Name Card that I made for Food Blogger, Nigel Yeo. His website: http://nigeleats.blogspot.com/ He hired me to make a name card for him. So, I am meeting him to finalise the design. Yeah. I AM A DESIGNER. A rather good one in making simplistic design with intricate graphical references. Thus I am called a Amateur(not so) Graphic Designer. Cool? Haha so having waited for 2 hours there and drew many sketches of random stuff from Durians to Pineapples to Cupcakes. And finally he came and we went to eat Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh which taste kindof horrible and overpriced. For two bowls of rice and pork ribs soup and a plate of pig intestines, its $26.50. SGD. Not Ringgit, not Renminbi. Singapore Dollars. The soup is too spicy with the heavily peppered-spiced and the meat which is not cook over simmered heat to get the very succulent meat taste. And I don’t know how is it so FAMOUS! My mum’s cooking is far better. To add onto our misery, she asked if we wanted to buy the sachet to cook the Bak Kut Teh. Thanks.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to explain my ambition. Or rather, I path I take to attain my ambition. My ambition is to craft myself into a perfect worker with the brains of an Engineer and the mindset of a Business Entrepreneurship. So, I am currently going to take a diploma in Engineering Science, then hopefully successfully get the Ngee Ann Scholarship or Ngee Ann Engineering Scholarship. Then this can be a base for me to rocketjump into the School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering in either NUS or NTU. So, GOOD LUCK TO ME :) Then the best news came. My aunt offered me to be hired into the company that she newly established called Palmical Pte Ltd. Then if I am capable, I might take over the company. So, that shall be my fantasy for now. Only now.

Let me now share my views of some singers and their new albums which I bought recently. Firstly, A-Lin, a very good singer. I can say that she is one of the best female singer in the music industry. If you are interested in C-POP, you should go and listen to her songs. An example would be 现在我很幸福 and 不是不满足. Secondly, JJ lin’s new album, 学不会. Its songs are all veryy nice. Trust me. I don’t give such reviews easily. Lastly, I would recommend Cyndi Yen, 袁咏琳, Jay Chou’s 师妹. She got two albums which are namely Cyndi and 陷阱. If you are a Hardcore Jay Chou fan, you will certainly love her album. She has a very nice voice and one of the best smiles in the industry. She is not very pretty but her smile made her face becomes oblivious to ugliness. Yeah its late and so nights :D

// FML. 11-1-12//

FML. First post in 2012, a day after I returned from Taiwan; 2 days after my results are released. FML? Yes. I got freaking shit results. Far from expectations. No A1s. 4 B3s 4 A2s. Stupid results. L1R5-> 14(raw), 10(after deduction). L1R2B2->11(raw), 9(after deduction). Yeah, so I officially broke my grandfather’s grandchildren league of extraordinaire results of having ALL of them getting single digit results. The best thing yet.

I went to school to collect results and guess what? ALL the teachers told me to go poly. My form teacher, Mdm Sujatha, dreamnt of me going to the poly and flourishing there. She even said that she couldn’t wait for the 3 years until the moment when I graduate and she comes for my graduation ceremony whereby I am the Valedictorian. Worst still, my previous form teacher even psycho me further. So, finally the stubborn me gave in and I adopted the Poly path. Poly students are not dumb. If someone gonna say that in front of me, YOU DIE. Yeah so this is my target for Poly-> GPA at least 3.85, lowest 3.5. Any lower kill myself. Aim: 4. Not easy but not too difficult either. And I AM NOT BEING ARROGANT. Pls.

First thing I did after choosing Poly. I called Mr Ong, my poly lecturer from Fundamentals Of Electronics. So, the man asked me to meet him in Ngee Ann Poly tomorrow to discuss the details of the many scholarships. Yeah and thats my motive of going out tomorrow. So apparently, my decision is to make it for a scholarship to embark on this final heap for my education journey. So gambatte!

Last day before takeoff to Taiwan. Haha felt quite excited but had to wake up at 2am for the flight at 7am. Who is that guy who came up with the rule that passengers need to reach the airport 2 hours before takeoff? Thanks for depriving me of sleep. Yeah… Yawns… Sleeping soon… Nights people…

// Birthday. 29-12-11//

Yeah as you can see from my title, ITS MY BIRTHDAY. But actually, its not of a very huge significance to me. This day only marks the age whereby I grow older by a year. Even though being 16 allows me to watch NC16 movies, haha it doesn’t really makes a difference to me. I may be young but I am not retarded, although I am childish at times while trying to prank someone. This streak of mischievous-ness is always inside the inner most core of a person, so I am still quite normal. Haha

16years since I am born, but I feel that I have lived for centuries already, if not, eons. Time past slowly, as seconds can only pass in seconds; minutes in minutes; hours in hours. Nobody can change the speed of time, regardless of slowing it down or even making it go at a quicker pace. Okay? Haha let me put an end to this senseless speech about time cause nobody really cares.

Felt kinda sad when a few of my friends tweeted about how terrible their lives were and yeah their parents. To parents: By making a police report, it does not make any difference to the police or your son’s criminal record. It will only hurt your son. But after a few times, your son will cower to hate you. And yeah the other one was kinda confusing as we were only acquainted for 2 months I think? But seeing you tweet about your breakup made me have an involuntary sorrow towards you being in your plight.

So shall end here and continue tomorrow.

// Time For Revelation 28-12-11//

Revelation on 28 December 2011: 1 day to Birthday; 3 days to Overseas.

As the title suggest, its time for me to have some revelation. I am only a few days short of these events and yet I don’t feel the exhilaration and excitement from before. Work can really kill someone. Especially when you are working alone. Even with the not-so-eventful but fun working experience, my exit from the job is very sucky. No. It totally sucks. But the Gain City Expo job is still quite nice having met really nice people and meeting schoolmates there. Having made myself earn my first thousandth dollar in the holidays, I felt accomplished. No lahh… My acommplish-ment level in very high. So, “Level 1- Unlocked!”. Next level, “Level 2-Earn Ten Thousand Dollars”. :)

Haha anyway this date might not seem significant to you but its epochal to me. Tomorrow is MY BURFDAY! Haha got really worried today that if I am too lazy to go out tomorrow, WHO WILL BUY MY BIRTHDAY CAKE??? So, I got an idea and took the MRT to NEX@Serangoon to buy the birthday cake. Bought it at SwissBake and the pastry inside is definitely tantalising. And yeah in case you didn’t know, I got a twin brother. Yeah a real one, not one like Dolly the sheep or a Shadow Clone. He is human and certainly I am too. Haha whenever people see both of us together then they will be like “Are you twins? Thats so cool!” But seriously, its not as cool as you think it is. Although teasing teachers in school is quite fun except when the teacher found out, the whole class laughs, and my parents are called downed.

My overseas trip still seem so far away but yet its only 3 days later, in reality 30th December’s night. This fact still haven’t been dawned upon me. But anyways TAIWAN HERE I COME!!!(In 3 days lahh….) So cheers to me being 15y.o. for the last day of my life. :) I am still YOUNG. 15 years and 364 days old. Guess that after tomorrow I am really getting older. :(

// Boxing Day. 26-12-11//

Boxing Day. Actually, I didn’t do anything related to Boxing Day but just put it on title to fill space. Haha :D

Yesterday, I attended one of the best weddings ever! (Even though I didn’t go to a lot of such functions) It marks the marriage of Mr Yang and my cousin, Ms Low XueNi. Haha I had to wake up at the most unearthly hours of 5am to have breakfast then rush down to my TuaPek’s House to help open the door of the groom’s car. My reward: A big fat Ang Pao. :) Anyway heres a photo of the wonderful couple:

Anyway, here is a brief(not so) summary of the eventful Christmas I had:

5am: Woke up and had Breakfast

6am: Got dressed and left home to travel there on aeroplane. No lahh just a car :D

7am: Reached and was almost late for the “door-opening” ceremony thingy. Haha but luckily, I am not.

7.30am: This is the part where I pitied the groom. He was forced to play some games which includes: Sitting on his friends while they were doing push-up; Drinking a mixture of coffee+tea+ginger+something that smells weird; Wearing a disposable underwear with weird designs such as an elephant on the xxx part.

9.30am: Surprisingly, he survived and sets off with the bride and wife-to-be.

11.30am: He returns with the bride to 敬茶. Then followed by giving more Ang Pao(s) to all the children there. Anyway I am constituted as a child because I am the youngest among my generation. Haha so more pocket money. :)

1pm: I finally left the place after a quite-so-very-nice lunch.

6.30pm: Arrived very early, only to see Nobody. :( At least nobody I know. Haha

7pm: Started reception with the usual super-diluted Coke, Sprite and Miranda Orange.

7.30pm: Entered the wedding hall and got caught in between the typical Auntie and Uncle speeches.

8pm: The solemnization and R.O.M signing ceremony.

9pm: Dinner started already but added it here so things look more compact and filled. :)

11pm : Desert served and soon people started leaving.

Haha I regretted not taking any photos with the groom and bride together. Alas! But at least we took a family portrait thingy. :D

// Finally. 24-12-2011//

On the last few days of 2011, I finally moved my blog from blogspot to tumblr. Why? Haha I didn’t know the reason either, but just feel like moving…

Today is Christmas Eve and like every Christmas and their Eve(s), I am alone and at HOME. Unlike most families(in my opinion) who usually celebrate Christmas, my parents rejects such ideas… It totally sucks when u want to go out on Christmas, but with no one to go out with. But for this year, my cousin’s wedding would fill my Christmas. Haha not as bad though. Shall upload photos taken tomorrow.

I just realized that I am going to Taiwan in a week and yet I am still here BLOGGING! Haha nevermind. Last minute preparations are always part of a saint. So, 船到桥头自然直, shall pack my luggage the day after tomorrow. Now, my rants- A sentimental part of me is still attached to NPCC, but it is really against my principles to go back and serve the unit. So, I gave the D11 CI course a miss. The feeling really sucks, seeing how fellow area mates wear their 1st uniform with the CI rank.

Music. Now let me introduce a singer, 方炯鑌. He is a Malaysian singer who is born in Penang. He got a very 哀伤的声音 and thats probably why he got famous. Recently, I just remembered the existence of this singer and thus listened to some of his songs and literally fell in love with it. Mind me, its the song, not him. Some of his famous works would be 坏人 and 遗憾。
